Looking at our favourite TV shows, we all grow and connect with the story of the show. But with ‘Friends’ or ‘How I Met Your Mother’ we laugh at the humorous parts and cry with every heartbreak or at the ending but the thrill of being glued to a story that you know actually happened is something out of the world and it adds up an enormous drama in your life.
So keeping the movies at one side, let’s just look at these ‘real life inspired’ TV series:
1. Narcos
This is a story revolves around the real-life drug dealer Pablo Escobar. This is a Netflix original series aired in 2015. The story is about a drug dealer who becomes a billionaire by producing and circulating cocaine. The show returned with its second season in 2016 and the third season came in 2017. Narcos have just released a teaser for season four:
2. Breaking Bad
This smash-hit drama series is inspired by several characters, but most significantly Meth Cook, Walter White. The show hit the small screens in 2008, when Alabama based real-life Walter White was listed in the state’s Most Wanted List. It is also based on a Texas-based Chemistry teacher named William Duncan and a Boston- based teacher named Stephen Doran who are diagnosed with stage 3 cancer, who were both arrested in 2011 for running meth laboratories. The series grabbed 16 Emmy awards and 2 Golden Globes.
3. Orange Is The New Black
This show is based on Piper Kerman’s memoir ‘Orange Is The New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison’. The Netflix hit, premiered in 2013 and the series became the most wanted TV series of the year.
4. Scrubs
This series is based on its creator, Bill Lawrence’s friend Jonathan Doris. Premiered in 2001, it follows the real-life experiences that Doris narrated to Lawrence, this medical-drama series achieved a lot of success worldwide.
5. Scandal
The show is inspired by the real-life crisis management specialist, Judy Smith. The show first aired in 2012, widely popular in the US for helping people escape trouble, Smith is both the co-creator and executive producer of the drama series.
