The smartest smartphones to look out for in 2018

Date:

The year 2017 has been a year of bezel-less displays and dual cameras. Considering the pace at which smartphones have evolved, every other piece of technology has been put to shame by them. Nevertheless, there is always more to come. There are several new devices lined-up for launch in the year 2018, and like 2017, this year too it is expected to aim for more finesse.

So, here are the top five smartphones that are expected to make it big in the year 2018.

Nokia 9

That’s right, Nokia is all set to rock the smartphone market and has already launched Nokia 8 last year. According to rumours, the company is gearing up to announce Nokia 9 this year which is expected to sport curved edges in the display. The aspect ratio is expected to be 18:9.

Nokia will continue to keep up the partnership with Zeiss and it will perhaps offer the bothie function of the Nokia 8. Grapevines even suggest that the upcoming phone will have wide-angle and zoom functions on the rear cameras.

Sony Xperia XZ2

Sony is expected to churn out another set of smartphones this year and the buzz is that the company intends to change its smartphone design. That’s big news! Till now we’ve basically had the same OmniBalance design in Sony Xperia phones since the Xperia Z.

Now, there’s talk of that the Xperia XZ2 would have no bezel but would sport a 5.48-inch display with Full HD resolution, a Snapdragon 845 and twin rear 12-megapixel cameras, with a 15-megapixel camera on the front.

With a range of devices leaking, it’s a little sketchy at the moment by when the phone will hit the market, but Sony Mobile is planning to launch it at the Mobile World Congress. So, that could mean a late-February launch.

HTC U12

2018 line-up now has HTC U11+ which is reportedly shifting to a 18:9 display. The Taiwanese tech giant boasts a number of areas of this phone. It has said that it will be returning to dual cameras in 2018. HTC was the first company to introduce two cameras at the back of its phone in the HTC One M8.

So, it is expected that a similar device would be on new hardware with a couple of additional features launching in April 2018. Certainly, HTC U11+ would compete with rivals like, LG and Huawei.

Huawei P11

Huawei seems to be moving things up a step and plans on making gains globally in its smartphone offerings. Rumors have it that the Huawei P11 will be introduced at Mobile World Congress 2018.

Though little information has been revealed about this future flagship phone, it has been said that a 3D face scanning feature will be incorporated. This features would rival the iPhone X’s Face ID. Otherwise, rumours are light on the ground.

Huawei P10 received heavy criticism for having a really smeary display, so there are some easy fixes to be made.

OnePlus 6

For now, there’s not much on this front but it has been revealed what’s powering the phone. The company revealed during the launch of Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 that their chipset will power the OnePlus 6. It’s one of most anticipated smartphones of 2018 as its predecessors OnePlus 5T received amazing reviews.

Rumours claim that OnePlus 6 would inherit 18:9 aspect ratio 6-inch screen from OnePlus 5T.
