As cold wave continues to grip the north, the Haridwar city administration has taken matters of survival of the homeless in their own hands. Haridwar police has arrested all the city beggars and sent them to jail in order to save them from bone chilling winter.
Haridwar’s District Magistrate (DM) had sent the order to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) to arrest all the beggars.
In a first, even the woman beggars were also picked up by the cops.
Few days ago, due to intense cold three people died. After which, the district authority has started taking drastic measures to save lives.
Taking a serious note of the deaths, the Haridwar administration has forced the beggars to shift to shelter homes.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the temperature in north India is likely to drop further in the coming days.
