Keane broke his drought in ISL

Robbie Keane at 37 did something he used to do in his prime.

After scoring his first goal for ATK, Keane celebrated with a series of somersaults and a namaste. It was a throwback to his halcyon days as a Tottenham Hotspur striker.

His strike in the 78th minute helped ATK beat Delhi Dynamos 1-0 in an ISL IV match at the Salt Lake Stadium on Saturday.

Here’s the celebration-

This was ATK’s first home win of this season and their second consecutive victory as well. In their first home match, they had lost to FC Pune City 1-4. ATK now have eight points from six matches and move up to seventh spot.

Barring Keane’s brilliant strike, there was hardly anything to write home about. Miss-passes, mundane midfield action and slow movement, Saturday evening at the Salt Lake Stadium was boring and morbid. Yes, there were some odd chances that came ATK’s way, but that was it.

The goal was a real beauty. A punt from the ATK half found substitute Bipin Singh, who brilliantly headed it down to Keane. The former Ireland striker took his markers Pritam Kotal and Rowilson Rodrigues in his stride and unleashed a low booming shot which crashed into the bottom right corner.

Dynamos goalkeeper Arnab Das Sharma had no answer to this one.
