Leaders Barcelona prepared for next week’s ‘El Classico’ with a 4-0 win over Deportivo La Coruna at the Camp Nou. Luis Suarez and Paulinho scored a brace each while Messi failed to score despite taking penalty as well.

The match started with a Golden Shoe for Lionel Messi and Barcelona started their aggressive self from the very first whistle. Luis Suarez opened the scoring at the stroke of half an hour mark following a corner. Messi was the provider as the Uruguayan calmly slotted from the six yard box.

Another goal from a short distance appeared when Paulinho opened his tally in the 41st minute of the game to double the lead. Minutes after the second half started, Suarez made it 3-0 from a left footed shot. The sequence then continued when Paulinho also had his brace in the 75th minute.

There were plenty of other incidents which highlighted the game as well. Suarez’s ‘rabona’ was well inside the line before Deportivo’s goalkeeper stopped it but the referee had different opinion and the goal was ruled out. Messi missed a penalty later and also hit the posts thrice during the entire match.

The result took Barca 11 points clear of their bitter rivals with one more game and a classic next week.
