Manchester City create history by winning 15th successive PL match

David Silva scored a brace while Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero scored once each as Manchester City defeated Swansea 4-0 to register a historic 15th consecutive victory in the Premier League.

Silva opened the scoring with Bernardo Silva providing the assist in the 27th minute. Kevin De Bruyne then doubled the lead with a brilliant free kick in the 34th minute. Silva then got his second of the night from the six yard box in the 52nd minute before Sergio Aguero pounced on a pass from Yaya Toure to seal the game in the 85th minute.

No team in the 129 years of history had been able to do so. The record for most consecutive victory was held by Arsenal, which had won 14 matches over 2 seasons.

It was a feat that was not easy, given that PL is a 20-team affair meaning that a team has to literally beat every team once! And seeing the toughness of the league it looked highly unlikely.

But such has been the form of this Pep Guardiola’s side that they made it look quite easy. Few 2-1 victories in the last few matches hinted that they may run out of tide but that was not the case to be.

Second placed Manchester United have just 38 points from the same number of games, meaning a lead of 11 points. Third placed Chelsea are further 3 points behind.

Leaders in Goals

It has taken some great performances from almost the entire squad for them to help the team. While Sergio Aguero is the top scorer for the side, and third highest scorer in the league, so far with 10 goals, Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus have also netted 9 and 8 goals respectively. Leroy Sane has 6.

Leaders in Assists

In all the team from Manchester have racked in 52 goals in just 17 matches and are viewing the record for most goals by a team in a single season held by Chelsea.
