Here’s how Tottenham Hotspurs kicked off their Diwali celebrations

Diwali fever is gripping the world and the Premier League is not untouched as well. With its rising popularity and fan base in India, the PL club Tottenham Hotspurs, second placed team from past two consecutive seasons, celebrated Diwali in their make-shift home stadium Wembley.

Dancers and musicians were seen kicking off the Bhangra in colourful and traditional Punjabi attires. The audience was left mesmerized with the foot tapping beats of the Dhol and the desi music in the background.

The club also stated in its tweet that the purpose was not only to celebrate Diwali but also to support the diverse culture and kicking out the racism from Football and the World. Football’s equality and inclusion organisation @kickitout was also mentioned in the tweet.

 

Every passing year more and more Football clubs are addressing their Indian Fanbase on major Festivals like Holi and Diwali through social media. With Hotspurs joining the league with the regulars Man United and Chelsea, we can expect better environment for football in India in the future.
