PepsiCo India chairman D Shivakumar to quit and join Aditya Birla

PepsiCo India chairman D Shivakumar is all set to quit PepsiCo and join Aditya Birla after almost four years of taking over as the head of the cola and snacks giant.

Shivakumar had joined PepsiCo after having worked at Nokia, prior to which he was with Hindustan UnileverBSE 1.22 % and Philips Consumer Electronics.

He is credited with consolidating PepsiCo with the Power of One s strategy and steering its snacks business back to double-digit growth. The development comes at a time when the cola industry had been reeling under taxation, consumers are turning to healthier drinks, and there is an onslaught of B-brands in the market, all of which has resulted in both single-digit growth for the category and lower profitability.
