India is a land of festivals and this is the festive season. Onam is celebrated with fervor in Kerala and across the world by Malayalees from all communities.
This year Onam started on 25th August and will be celebrated through the week with feasts and vibrant rangoli designs. Since Onam is a harvest festival, food is a big part of the celebrations.
However, when we think of Onam, the first thing that comes to our mind is a white saree with a golden border. Add a maroon blouse, a jasmine gajra, the right jewelry and you have a perfect click for Instagram!
Here are some styling tips and tricks to up your style quotient this festive season:
Pair Kasavu Saree with sexy blouse
Pair the white saree with a golden border with a plunging deep back or a backless blouse. Wear a backless bra to make heads turn!
Keep it traditional
Choose the traditional draping style of the saree because that looks perfect on this occasion. To make the drape look better, you can replace your normal petticoat with a saree shape-wear. It will give you a flattering figure and you can wrap your saree with panache.
Ditch the saree
If you want to ditch the saree, we suggest you opt for a white or off white anarkali with golden border and some golden thread embroidery on the neckline. To have that perfect silhouette, wear a shape-wear inside.
The traditional jhumkas, maangtikka and bajuband are worth exploring. While kundan can be mesmerizing with this attire, try going for Kasu haram or kasulaperu a traditional piece of jewel designed with coins teamed together.
Flowers for the hair
To beat the heat in style, try a braid or a bun instead of leaving your hair open and add some jasmine, mogra to make it look attractive.
To keep your must have items before heading out, go for a potli bag or a designer clutch instead of your regular purse.
Keep your makeup light and sweat-proof to look flawless in hot and humid weather. Don’t forget those Ray-Bans before clicking your Onamselfie!
