Controversial daily soap PehredaarPiyaKi manages to survive ban

After several objections related to the content in the daily soap Pehredaar Piya Ki, the show is in trouble after the Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani has responded to the online petition filed in change.org.

I&B Minister Smriti Irani has taken a prompt action against the show and has written to the Broadcasting Content Complaints Council (BCCC) and has asked them to take strict action, according to the reports.

After change.org, a Mumbai bases NGO named Jai Ho also seeks an on Pehredaar Piya Ki.

The story of the daily soap revolves around a 9-Year-old boy falling for an 18-year-old and subsequent episodes followed by suhag raat and honeymoon in the show broadcasted in Sony TV.

The petition started by Mansi Jain managed to gather around 103, 106 support which was addressed to I&B Minister Smriti Irani who was herself once a part of Indian TV industry.

The petition said “A 10-year-old impressionable little kid caressing and stalking a lady who’s more than double his age and filling sindoor in her “maang” is being telecasted at prime time. We do not want our kids to be influenced by such TV serials”.

The lead actress in the serial, Tejasswi Prakash responding to the criticism said that what is wrong with the serial and it’s quite similar to Game of Thrones which is a blockbuster TV series worldwide.

The producers have defended the show by saying that the show does not show anything explicit and it’s all about a girl protecting a young boy who is a royal prince from several impending threats.
