Musicians allegedly thrashed at South Delhi pub by staff

Sahil Sharma, a guitarist of a band called The Cosmic Truth alleges that the staff members of Turquoise Cottage, a famous pub situated at Green Park in South Delhi assaulted him brutally when his band went to perform a gig at the pub, according to his social media post.

He claims that the staff behaved irrationally after a misunderstanding of bill payment which resulted in a tussle between the staff and two of the band members which caused multiple injuries to Sahil.

Sahil claimed that after the misunderstanding the situation escalated and the bouncers started assaulting the duo in a brutal manner.

“These bouncers dragged me 4 flights of stairs. That’s 2 floors while dragging my head first. And it didn’t stop there. They paused at each flight to deliver blind kicks and punches throughout”. alleged Sahil on his post.

Sahil then decided to lodge an FiR  at the Safdarjung Enclave police station in South Delhi against the bartender and bouncers of the restaurant with sections 241 (wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt),  506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) which took him 12 hours without any guarantee of aid which is unsatisfactory, according to him.

However, Turquoise cottage claims that they were in no manner responsible for Sahil’s injury. The management claims Sahil’s part of the story as fictitious. The management on their social media post said “We calmly asked them to leave our premises in order to prevent any future unpleasantness as visible in the video. While they were being escorted out, one of them lost his balance and hurt himself.

The managements released CCTV footage which shows the glimpse of the heated argument between Sahil and the staff of the pub. However, the CCTV is not voice enabled which makes it unclear to understand the situation that took place.

The bar and pub also posted an FIR copy of the police, which says that Sahil and his friends assaulted a police officer on duty after they left the pub.

The brawls in Delhi pubs are not unusual but such incidences call for patrons to be vigilant when they visit the pubs.
