Vijender Singh wins Battleground Asia, offers belt to Chinese opponent for India China peace

Indian boxing ace Vijender Singh continues his winning streak after defeating China’s Zulpikar Maimaitiali in Battleground Asia on Saturday. In the 9th professional match of his career, Vijender Singh won the dual title of WBO Asia Pacific and Oriental Super Middleweight title by the score of 96-93, 95-94, 95-94 in his favour.

“I will give back this title to Zulpikar as a message for peace,” Vijender said as a good gesture after the victory so that both the boxers get to keep their belts.

Vijender had earlier trolled his opponent and said that he would try to finish the bout as soon as possible as “Chinese product don’t last long”.

Zulpikar, on the other hand, had said, “I am very well prepared to face Vijender in the ring, I am confident of my body, my techniques and my mental calmness.”

China’s undefeated star boxer till now Zulpikar has eight bouts under his name, same as Vijender. Zulpikar has five knock outs wins and has fought 24 rounds. His last bout was with African boxer, Thomas Mashali where he won his current title, WBO Oriental Super Middleweight Champion last year. Zulpikar turned towards professional boxing in April 2015.

Vijender, who remains unbeaten since his debut in professional boxing, has also fought eight bouts, last one being against former world number one boxer Francis Cheka from Tanzania where he defended his title.
