Current spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, Gopal Baglay, has been appointed as the new Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office. Baglay is a 1992 batch Indian Foreign Service officer.
Baglay will replace the current Joint Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra, who has already been appointed as India’s Ambassador to France.
Baglay’s appointment has been approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). He will serve as the Joint Secretary for the next three years, according to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
As part of the transition, the ACC has also approved an overlapping period of two weeks where Kwatra and Baglay would work together to facilitate a smooth transition of work.
