Undaunted by age, seven-time Grand Slam Champion Venus Williams will aim to lift her sixth Wimbledon title when she takes on 14th-seeded Garbine Muguruza of Spain in the finals of the women’s singles event on Centre Court today.
Thirty-seven-year-old Venus became the oldest player to reach Wimbledon final after she crushed Britain’s, Johanna Konta, 6-4, 6-2 in a one-sided semi-final clash.
With the win in last-four, Venus also equalled her younger sister, Serena’s total of 86 main draw match wins at Wimbledon, the most among any active player.
The American star, who stormed into the Wimbledon finals for the ninth time, is also bidding to clinch her first Grand Slam title in nine years, after she last lifted the coveted trophy in 2008.
Meanwhile, Spain’s Muguruza is aiming for her first Wimbledon triumph after losing to former world number one Serena in the 2015 final.
