A person found guilty of using fake or forged caste certificate for education or employment are bound to lose both the degree as well as their job, said the Supreme Court on Thursday. The guilty will also be punished apart from the seizure of degree and job, SC added.
Irrespective of the duration of the job held by the guilty there will be no leniency, according to the top court. “Even if a person has been on the job for 20 years on the basis of a fake caste (document), he will lose the job and also get punished,” the court said.
Last month the Centre said that those who got jobs using forged certificate will be dismissed. The Centre has also ordered the central government departments to collect the details of such appointments under them.
According to the report by Minister of State for Personnel, Jitendra Singh, Around 1,832 appointments were allegedly secured on the basis of fake caste certificates. Out of which 276 were suspended immediately, 521 were entangled in litigations and about 1,035 awaits disciplinary actions.
Around 1296 jobs were secured allegedly using fake certificates in Financial Services and banks like SBI, Central Bank of India etc, according to the reports.
