1. Sleek Design

It has become a norm to make any new smartphone as sleek as possible without sacrificing performance. At first glance, the OnePlus 5 will look very similar to the Apple iPhone 7 Plus. While that is true, at closer inspection, the OnePlus 5 conceals a lot in its understated design. For starters, the plastic antenna lines that almost always make an appearance on metal bodied phones isn’t as visible as on other flagship smartphones. OnePlus has wrapped the antenna lines around the display and top of the device. OnePlus even features a headphone jack, so you won’t have to throw away your wired audio listening devices when you upgrade.

2. The Little Things

OnePlus 5 Reading Mode

OnePlus has worked to include several little software tweaks to make the user experience as friendly as possible. The OnePlus 5 features a new take on the Reading Mode that is included on most devices being released today. What most Reading Mode’s do is make the display warmer and reducing the blue tint that is considered harmful to eyes over extended use. OnePlus’ Reading Mode makes the display warmer and also turns it black and white, making the reading experience more akin to the Amazon Kindle e-readers.

3. Portrait Mode on Android

Dual cameras are the new innovation being featured on smartphones with every manufacturer taking a different approach to implementing it. OnePlus 5 emulates the Apple iPhone 7 Plus’ approach to dual cameras by offering a 16-megapixel main camera and a 20-megapixel telephoto camera. Both cameras combine to give the user incredible portraits with a blurred background and sharp subject. There’s also a 16-megapixel front shooter as well, so horrible selfies could become a thing of the past.

4. Power at your fingertips

OnePlus is known for including powerful specifications in its flagships and this time is no different. The OnePlus 5 is kitted out with the latest Snapdragon 835, an option of 6GB or 8GB of RAM, 3300mAh battery, and 64GB and 128GB storage options. All this hardware comes together to provide a super fast and fluid day to day usage. The revised fingerprint scanner gives the user instant access to all that power without a hang up.

5. A Price to bring you to tears (in a good way)

The latest flagships from Apple and Samsung start upwards of the dreaded Rs 50,000 mark, requiring potential customers to take out a small loan to buy a phone which will have a new version out next year. OnePlus on the other hand made its name by offering high-end specs at budget prices. The OnePlus 5 is the most expensive OnePlus yet but it is still significantly cheaper than the competition. The smartphone will be launched in India on June 22 and it is expected to be priced around the Rs 35,000-40,000 price point. Flagship performance that doesn’t break the bank? That is sure to move you to tears.
