Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Chinese President Xi Jinping in a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) on Friday.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister thanked the Chinese President for supporting India’s bid to become a full member of the SCO. PM Modi added that the youth of both Asian nations had positive outlook and also emphasized that India had implemented several reforms and initiatives that were positively impacting the country’s economic growth the international arena.
During his forthcoming address at the SCO Summit, Prime Minister Modi is likely to pitch for a concerted global action plan to contain terrorism.
The summit is also being attended by Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. PM Modi briefly met the Pakistani Prime Minister and inquired about his health after his recent cardiac surgery.
India and Pakistan will be formally inducted into the SCO as members on Friday.
