Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh has drawn an immense amount of criticism after it changed the food timetable for the Muslims sacred month of Ramadan. Some students have reacted against this move and expressed their feeling on Twitter.

People of twitter started having a debate about how secular this move is.
No breakfast/lunch for Hindu students in AMU in Ramzan. Canteen opens at 3 am & Hindu students/faculty forced to observe compulsory fast.

The hostellers of the AMU is said to be facing the problem as the move is approved by the Vice-Chancellor and it is done to “maintain the sanctity of the Ramadan” according to a circular.

The students living in the hostel are served with Sehri at dawn (2.30) clock and Iftaar at 7 in the morning contrary to the usual routine of Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
The tradition is not new and it is continuing since last 50 years. It is said to be started by the Non-Muslim students as a sign of a “mutual respect” to their Muslim batchmates, according to some of the students of the university.
