Playground Global and Essential CEO, Andy Rubin announced the launch of the Essential Phone and the Essential Home. The Essential Phone is Rubin’s foray into the premium smartphone market.
The Essential Phone features a bezel-less design that fits a 5.7 inch display into a frame that is manageable and not phablet-like. Rubin stated that the phone will be constructed from titanium rather than aluminium to improve the durability of the device. On the front, the display will be covered by Gorilla Glass 5 while the back will be made from ceramic.
In terms of internals, the device will ship with Qualcomm’s latest processor, the Snapdragon 835 along with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The device does not feature a headphone jack, so consumers will have to use the accompanying USB-C dongle. The Essential Phone also incorporates a dual rear camera setup, with both being 13 megapixel sensors. One lens shoots in colour while the other shoots in monochrome. On the front there is an 8 megapixel shooter. Digital Marketing Services India
Apart from the bezel-less design, another defining feature of the Essential Phone are the two magnetic connectors, similar to the Moto Z’s modular connectors. The connectors will allow users to attach additional accessories, the first of which is the world’s smallest 360 degree camera.
The Essential Phone will only be available in the United States and will retail for $699.
