Kochi Metro is all set to formally appoint 23 transgenders in Aluva-Palrivattom corridor according to a report. The duties of these transgenders will involve from handling the ticket counters to housekeeping.
“We would like to give members of the transgender community their rightful share in different jobs at stations. There will be no discrimination between them and women workers,” said MD, Kochi Rail Metro Ltd., Elias George.

The Kochi Metro becomes the first Government owned body to appoint Transgenders according to Elias Goerge.
The report said that the transgenders selected after written test will be given intensive training to perform jobs such as customer relations, housekeeping, gardening, parking etc.
