Sriram Taranikanti new Chief Electoral Officer of Tripura

Agartala: Senior IAS officer Sriram Taranikanti was appointed as the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Tripura, official sources said today.

“Following recommendation of the state government, the Election Commission has appointed Taranikanti, who is the Principal Secretary of Transport, Food and Civil Supplies department as CEO, Tripura”, the sources said.

Taranikanti is an IAS officer of 1992 batch of Manipur/Tripura cadre.

The Tripura Assembly elections are due early next year.

According to a notification issued by the state government, Tusher Kanti Chakma will look after General Administration in addition to the Secretary of Tripura Human Rights Commission, while KD Chowdhury, who is looking after Co-operation and Labour department, will hold additional charge of General Administration (Political).
