A new complex of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital in Shimla is now open for the public. The new Rippon hospital complex was inaugurated by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on April 26, 2017.The new hospital complex is constructed with a budget of Rs. 35 crore. The new complex has a capacity to accommodate 135 beds.

The new seven storied complex have central air conditioning and offer all basic amenities including parking, chemist shops, blood banks, besides MRI and CT Scan facilities etc. It is also expected to provide some relief from the struggle for parking as the complex have a two-floor parking for the attendants of the patients visiting the hospital.
Now the total bed capacity of the hospital has increased to 300. The work for the new complex was in progress for past couple of years. The new complex is likely to congest the hospital premises that was earlier dependent on the old building.
The CM also laid the foundation stone of Directorate of Health and Family Welfare at Parimahal in Kasumpti to cost Rs. 14.11 crore. The six storied complex will also incorporate parking, canteen, conference hall, etc.
