Fire breaks out at cotton mill; 3 labourers burnt alive

Georgian College Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training students work a simulated situation with real fire. It takes a special person to become a firefighter. It takes dedication, skills, knowledge and experience. Georgian College's Pre-Service Firefighter program can give you the background and education you need to prepare for this dynamic career. Our one-year program has been developed in close co-operation with the provincial standards, and it has the support of the Office of the Fire Marshal and the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs. Together with the support of Fire Services in our catchment area, instructors provide both in-class and practical education in fire science and firefighting basics. In partnership with local fire services and the Ontario Fire college students then have opportunities to practice and test those skills in simulated and controlled live fire training situations.

Three labourers were burnt alive after a fire broke out at a cotton spinning mill situated in the Industrial Area here today.

The victims, aged between 40-45 years, hailed from Bihar and were working in the mill, DCP Dhruman Nimbley said.
