Let’s start our day healthy…….. FOOD FACTS WE MUST KNOW…

1. Eat fruits grown locally. Banana, chikoo, mangoes etc.A mango comes from Konkan and an apple comes from Kashmir.So a mango is more of a local fruit.

2 Chose seed oil and veggie oils like groundnut oil, til oil. Kachi ghanni oils are extremely good. Mustard oil has so many health benefits that some of the NEW YORK CITY S most popular restaurants have added it to their TOP DISHES.

3.GHEE has its benefits.EAT GHEE DAILY. IT HELPS REDUCE CHOLESTEROL.Ghee contains high levels of omega 6 fatty acids and Omega 3 fatty acids which are very good for overall growth of the body.

4.Include COCONUT IN YOUR DIET. Coconut has ZERO CHOLESTEROL and helps reduce your waist line. You can add scrapped coconut to your IDLIS, POHA, UPMA etc. Coconut fats are used by the liver for energy and help reduce insulin surges in the body unlike sugary or processed foods.

5.NO JUICES TILL YOU HAVE TEETH in your mouth to chew veggies and fruits. Juices take the fiber away from your body and you are just drinking sugar and calories. Do you know that 12 oranges have to die to make your orange juice?? Is it not it better to eat 1-2 oranges which are more nutrition packed !!!

6.SUGARCANE is the real detox. Now sugarcane be eaten as well as juiced. It aids in digestion, prevents heart disease, helps in reducing weight and even clears skin imperfections. So many benefits in SUGARCANE. All the more reason to start today itself.

7.EAT WHITE RICE. Brown rice tires the pressure cooker with 5-6 whistles. It sure has the same kind of effect on your stomach. White rice is more milled , the bran is removed and hence its easily digestible

8.NO BREADS, CAKES, BISCUITS , PIZZA OR PASTA. The majority of breads that we get at the grocery stores have high fructose and corn syrup in them. So many TRANS FATS in them. Next time you are at the store pick a healthy loaf of bread.

9. Ask yourself is this the food my grand mom ate?? If yes then eat without fear. Our grannies mostly cooked all the food at home from mithai to different kinds of breads( rotis) mixed with multi grains hence real nutrition packed. We really need to go back to our grand parents to learn some HEALTHY AN EQUALLY TASTY FOOD.

10.Strictly NO TO PACKAGED FOOD/ DRINKS. Fresh foods have no comparisons. PRESERVATIVES have high content of salt and sugar in them which often lead to health hazards. The nutrition in packed food is much lesser. And do not forget fresh food is much cheaper too.

LAST BUT OT THE LEAST EXERCISE DAILY…… but do we  all not  wish exercise was as easy as eating….. !!!!!
