26 CRPF personnel martyred in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district

At least 26 personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have reportedly been killed in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district.

Earlier, it had been reported that seven CRPF personnel had been injured in an encounter with the rebels. Six of them are said to have been airlifted by helicopter to a medical facility for emergency treatment.

Further details are awaited.

Update: The death toll in the incident has risen to 26 as suggested by recent reports.
