Centre poses 5 questions to Kejriwal

HRD minister Prakash Javdekar while addressing media on Tuesday allegedly charged Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to have paid crores of rupees for lawyers from the official funds of the Delhi government.

The minister on Tuesday lashed out at the Aam Aadmi Party after reports  revealed that the Delhi Government is seeking Rs 3.36 crore from the office of the Lieutenant Governor for footing his legal bills.

Javadekar stated that this is not in accordance with the law and called it a “robbery” of the common people.

“This is not a case on Delhi Government. This is a case against Arvind Kejriwal as an individual. Supreme Court has also said that defamation is a personal case. The world knows that these are personal cases on AAP for defamation because you have unsuccessfully tried to defame Mr Jaitley and his family. How can the people of Delhi pay for this?” said Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar.

Earlier it was reported that the Delhi government notings in which Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is seeking Rs 3.86 crore from the office of the Lieutenant Governor on account of expenses incurred by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The note by Manish Sisodia seeks public funds to pay for the legal fees charged by Ram Jethmalani, who has been fighting Kejriwal’s civil defamation case.

The L-G’s office, which is marked on the files, has sought legal advice from the Additional Solicitor General on whether it is fair for the Delhi chief minister to be calling upon the people of Delhi to foot his legal bill.
