A woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at a Delhi Metro station here. Officials said the incident was reported at about 8:30 AM when a staffer of the cleaning department at the Kashmere Gate Metro station informed authorities of a woman hanging near the water supply pipe at the end of platform no 2.
They said the unidentified woman, aged about 28 years, had allegedly hanged herself using her ‘dupatta’. Metro and CISF officials soon reached the spot and an investigation is on as to how and when the woman attempted the alleged suicide.

Police said that CCTV footage revealed that the incident occurred around 11.45 PM yesterday. The woman is yet to be identified. She was spotted entering the Metro station at about 10.30 PM and was last seen heading towards the end of the platform number 2 around 11.45 PM.
The woman was also carrying a mobile phone which is missing. Efforts are being made to identify the woman by scanning missing reports registered at various police stations, said a police officer.Meanwhile, DMRC said that they are conducting an internal inquiry into the matter.

“A woman aged around 30 years was found hanging inside one of the electrical and maintenance rooms of the Kashmere Gate Metro station today. We are conducting an internal enquiry into this incident,” said a DMRC official.
