Third edition of ‘Rajya Sabha at Work’ released in the Parliament

The third edition of ‘Rajya Sabha at Work’ a window to the proceedings in the upper house of the Parliament was released on Tuesday at the Parliament House Annexe.

The book was released by the Vice-President,  Hamid Ansari.

While releasing the book Ansari said:

“The Framers of the Constitution decided to give us a legislative structure where they have consciously and purposefully provided the second chamber. It was certainly not meant to delay, nor to obstruct, but to give space to take a second look at legislation. A second look is always useful. He shared his experience as the Chairman that a second look has added to the quality not subtracted. Moreover, the Select Committees through detailed deliberations are doing excellent and commendable work. Every piece of work done by these Committees has added quality to legislation.”

Secretary General of Rajya Sabha also made a presentation of the book highlighting the importance of the publication in the day to day functioning of the Rajya Sabha.

He outlined the significant procedural development during the last 10 years, that have been incorporated in the Book.
