Southampton were the better side for most of this match but were left heartbroken by a controversial offside decision, which could have resulted in a hat-trick for Gabbiadiani later on. But, the inspiration provided by the 35-year-young Swede as he took his tally to 26 goals this season, was enough to crown Man United as the Champions.

Saints’ striker Manolo Gabbiadiani saw a goal ruled out by the linesman before United took an undeserved two-goal lead through Ibrahimovic’s superb 19th-minute free-kick and Jesse Lingard’s pin-point finish seven minutes before the first-half interval.

Southampton, as their performance flourished, were level with Manchester United at 2-2 with amazing strikes from Gabbiadini on either side of half-time.

Oriel Romeu hit the woodwork before Ibrahimovic cashed in on Ander Herrera’s cross three minutes from time to give United a victory that looked beyond them for long spells.

Manchester United page on facebook shared this video from the locker room, with players celebrating their glorious win.
