24 airlifted in Raj as rains create flood-like scene

Jaipur, Aug 20 (PTI) At least 24 people were airliftedtoday in Rajasthan’s Baran district and nearby areas whereheavy rains have created a flood-like situation. Several villages are inundated with water enteringbuildings, houses and a private power plant in Baran. "Many villagers had climbed trees amid gushing waters andwere waiting for help. A MI-17 V5 helicopter from Air ForceStation in Phalodi carried out a rescue operation and rescued24 people from seven different locations," Defencespokesperson Lt Col Manish Ojha said.
