India Earthquake: LIVE UPDATES

A medium-intensity earthquake of 5.8 magnitude hit North India on Monday at around 10:30 PM with strong tremors being felt all across Delhi, NCR, Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh.

The tremors lasted for about 30 seconds. According to experts, the quake was shallow, with a depth of just 7 km.

“Epicentre of earthquake measuring 5.8 magnitude on Richter Scale was in Rudraprayag of Uttarakhand,” National Seismological Bureau, a unit of Ministry of Earth Sciences, said.

“The depth of the quake was 33 km and it occurred at 10.33 PM,” the Bureau said.

There was no immediate report of any damage to property or loss of life till now.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has asked for a detailed report on the earthquake and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been put on high alert.
