The Algerian town of Ain Sefra situated in Sahara witnessed snowfall
on Monday. According to the reports, the last snowfall was in February 1979
that lasted for about thirty minutes and stopped traffic. There have
also been sightings of dusting snow in 2005 and 2012.
Ain Sefra, also known as “the gateway to the desert’’, is probably
not the first place that someone would think of when it comes to snow.
Photographers like Karim Bouchetata and Zineddine Hashas shared photos
of the desert sand covered in snow.
The people were stunned when they saw the snow. According to some
reports, the snow lasted for a day and then melted.
