NEXT school introduces ‘Big Picture Learning’

Date:

In an effort to bring a paradigm shift in the education system, NEXT school, a non-profit venture of real estate major Marathon Group, has introduced a US-based ‘Big Picture Learning’ which focuses on building skills that go beyond academic knowledge.

Under this new learning process, students at an early age connect with organisations and professionals from the real world, by taking up projects and internships in their field of interest, a release said here today.

A survey conducted by NEXT School recently revealed that parents of 46 per cent school students felt that the current education system did not help the students to figure out what they wanted to do in life, according to the release.

While 79 per cent parents felt that freedom is lacking in the current school system, 59 percent of them felt that the school system does not sufficiently cater to every child in the classroom, the release said.

‘The Big Picture Learning’ framework is based on addressing these issues in the education system, it said.

Big Picture’s core principle is to personalise education, so that schools can focus on the individual needs of each child, ensuring that each one of them is given proper attention.

This will be India’s first Big Picture school which is currently under construction in suburban Mulund and slated to open in the next academic year, it added.
