Kshatriya orders speedy filing of affidavit on boundary row

\ Mumbai, Oct 27 (PTI) Maharashtra Chief Secretary Swadheen\Kshatriya today directed the officials to file state\\’s\affidavit before the Supreme Court regarding the boundary\dispute with Karnataka before January 2017.\ Maharashtra has been long claiming Belgaum and some other\border areas in Karnataka which have Marathi-speaking\population.\ The directions were given at a meeting of the\high-powered committee on the boundary dispute.\ Chief of the committee Prof N D Patil and Additional\Chief Secretary (General Administration) Bhagwan Sahai were\among those present.\ Kshatriya also directed the Law and Judiciary department\to appoint a legal expert in place of Prabhat Ranjan Tiwari\who passed away recently.\ Arvind Datar and Harish Salve are representing the state\in the apex court.\ Kshatriya said all documents related to the case should\be scanned and sent to the legal office in a month\\’s time.\ A request would be made to the Supreme Court to conduct\hearing of the case on a fast-track, he said.\ Maharashtra Government would soon appoint a nodal officer\to assist the legal team in Delhi, he said.
