Following his endowment of $20 million in September, Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz has promised an extra $15 million to the Democratic Party in an attempt to beat Donald Trump in the crucial US Presidential elections.
In an unusual move, Moskovitz, promised the donation without any announcement, instantly displaying him as one of the highest ever Democratic Party contributors.
“This is a unicorn-type campaign gift, you just don’t see someone basically walk into a campaign without a significant track record of activity and contribute at this level,” said long-term Democratic Party strategist Chris Lehane.
Moskovitz has denied to openly present the donation, although he has continually displayed his contempt for Trump on social media platform Twitter, retweeting the anti-Trump posts and occasionally commenting himself.
This huge donation is yet another indication of the increasing power of the tech industry in Washington. The tech business was observed to have outspent Wall Street by over 100% in political contributions, with contributors keen interest in lobbying for cases such as tax immigration rules and internet privacy law.
