When Coldplay comes to India!

Date:

Earlier this year, a fanboy from Mumbai created a Coldplay concert event page, with the concert being held in Mumbai later this year. Thousands of people liked the event page only to realise a few days later that it was merely a fan-created event and Coldplay had broken the hearts of all its Indian fans.

A few days ago however, Coldplay officially announced that they will indeed have a concert in India, in Mumbai later this year. Once again, the internet took charge on how to go about things. The news went out, a hype was created and things took their usual turn once again.

The first of many things in the hype to be discovered were the presumed ridiculously high prices of concert tickets. The internet audience and twitterati believed that the prices for the concert will start from 25K INR and go up to 5 Lacs INR. Before I tell you what was wrong, here are some great tweets that convey what it means to want what you can’t have.

This,

TVF said this,

This guy took it a little too far,

And the optimist,

While he is keeping it real:

For those who don’t know Coldplay had still not given out an official press release about the proceedings of their events. Later however, Global Citizen announced that the tickets for the concert can be made available for free to fans if they make small contributions towards societal change. We know for sure that this is true, because Coldplay’s official twitter handle retweeted that.

The band will be performing as part of the Global Citizen Festival – where frontrunner Chris Martin will also be playing the role of a creative director – with an aim to eradicate global poverty by 2030.

The band is yet to officially come out with a press release regarding more details of the event. Tip for the fans though: Don’t believe everything you read on the internet.
