DUSU Elections: ABVP wins top 3 positions

Date:

Results of Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) is out and BJP’s student wing ABVP has managed to sweep three crucial positions of President, Vice-President and General Secretary, while NSUI‘s Mohit managed to bag the position of Joint Secretary Post.
Election Results:
President- ABVP- Amit Tanwar
Vice President- ABVP- Priyanka Chabri
General Secretary- ABVP- Ankit Singh Sangwan
Joint Secretary- NSUI- Mohit

Unlikely past 3 years, this year significantly a low number of students have come out to cast votes. Chief Election Commissioner for Delhi University Elections, DS Rawat, gave a short comment: “The voter turnout this year was diminished as only 35.38 per cent students casted vote in morning colleges poll.”

According to DU sources, the overall turnout percentage was approximately nearby 31%, significantly lower than last year’s overall turnout of 43.3%. In fact, for 3 sequential years (2013 to 2015), the voter aggregate in DUSU polls wavered around 43%. This year voting participation has witnessed a sharp decline of nearly 5%.

This will moreover influence the vote-margin of different parties, making it more challenging than last year to sustain a surplus vote-share percentage.
