Kabul, Sep 5 (AFP) Two Taliban suicide bombers on footstruck close to the Afghan defence ministry in Kabul duringlate afternoon rush hour today, killing at least five peopleand wounding 13 others, officials said. The latest militant assault on the Afghan capital comesas the Taliban intensify their nationwide offensive againstthe US-backed government in Kabul. "Two suicide bombers, both on foot, detonated theirexplosives… in downtown Kabul," interior ministry spokesmanSediq Sediqqi told AFP. "The attackers blew themselves up one after another andunfortunately we do have police and civilian casualties," headded. At least five people were confirmed dead and 13 otherswounded, health ministry spokesman Waheed Majroh said. The Italian-run Emergency Hospital in Kabul tweeted thatit had so far received 10 injured people, with more expected. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said on Twitter thatthe defence ministry was the target of the first attack, whilepolice were targeted in the second. (AFP)ZH
