No mega block on Harbour line this Sunday

Mumbai, Sep 2 (PTI) In a bid to minimise the inconveniencecaused to lakhs of suburban passengers during mega block, theCentral Railway has decided to spare the Harbour Line onSeptember 4 from the weekend routine and would insteadoperate it only on the Main line here. Also, in view of increasing train-related mishaps dueto overcrowding, it has appealed passengers to avoid riskingtheir lives while travelling during Sunday mega blocks. "As a result of mega block, suburban trains are likely tobe more crowded than usual. Passengers are requested not totake any risks while travelling," the CR said in a statement. "They (passengers) are also requested to avoid travellingon foot board, rooftop of locals and not to board extremelyovercrowded trains. Passengers are requested to bear with therailway administration for the inconvenience caused," it said. CR has always faced flak for putting passengers in troubleon Sundays, when it operates block to carry out maintenancework on its Main and Harbour lines. But this time, CR isrestricting the block only to Main line. "The mega block would be operational between Mulund andMatunga on up slow line between 11.20 AM TO 3.20 PM. "All UP slow line services leaving Thane from 10.58 AMto 3.12 PM will be diverted on Up fast line between Mulund andMatunga stations halting at Mulund, Bhandup, VikhroliGhatkopar, Kurla and Sion stations and further re-diverted toUp slow line proper at Matunga station," it said.
