11 Bangladeshi nationals to be deported

Silchar (Assam), Aug 31 (PTI) Eleven Bangladeshinationals including two minors currently lodged in thedetention centre here, will be deported back to Bangladeshsoon, Cachar Deputy Commissioner S Viswanathan said today. "The Bangladesh government has agreed to take back ninenationals of their country from Silchar detention centre andthey will be deported after final clearance of the stategovernment along with the two minors," he said. The issue of deporting inmates staying in detentioncentres was discussed at length during the DeputyCommissioners/Magistrates meeting last year at Moulvibazar inBangladesh and a list of detainees were handed to the deputycommissioners of both Sylhet and Moulvibazar. Bangladesh government has verified and agreed to take backtheir nine nationals along with two minor children of oneArati Das. "With this initial step we are confident that therest of the detainees will also be deported back and thoughthe process is slow, we are happy that the issue is beingsorted out to its logical conclusion," Viswanathan said.
