1984 anti-Sikh riots: Haryana govt disburses compensation to

victims New Delhi, Aug 28 (PTI) Haryana government todaydisbursed compensation to 42 victims of anti-Sikh riots of1984. "Based on the recommendations of the Justice T P GargCommission, the state government had sanctioned an amount ofRs 12.07 crore for the victims of Gurgaon and Pataudi area,out of which cheques of compensation were distributed to 42victims today," Haryana government said in a release. National Minorities Commission Chairman Naseem Ahmeddistributed the cheques at a programme held in Gurgaon. Former Secretary of Union Urban Development Ministry L MMehta, Deputy Commissioner T L Satyaprakash and Commissionerof Police Sandeep Khirwar were also present. Deputy Commissioner said that compensation to about 150victims of Gurgaon and Pataudi area was cleared by theCommission, based on which the state government has sanctionedthe amount. Rest of the victims belonging to the area would be handedover the cheques soon, he said. Haryana government is the first in the country todisburse compensation to victims of anti-Sikh Riots of 1984,the release claimed. PTI SKC MP IKA SKIKA
