In order to intensify the war against the Islamic State in Syria, Turkey has sent more tanks into Syria under a military operation that is launched to retake control of the border town, Jarablus from IS.
The Syrian government condemned the act of Turkey by saying it “a blatant violation of sovereignty.” According to Reuters, at least nine tanks of the Turkish military entered in the northern part of Syria on Thursday.
According to a Turkish official, around some 20 tanks were deployed earlier and if it is required then turkey will send more machinery. “We need construction machinery to open up roads… and we may need more in the days ahead. We also have armored personnel carriers that could be used on the Syrian side. We may put them into service as needed,” the anonymous official told Reuters.
Turkey started ground operations inside Syria targeting Islamic State and Kurdish fighters near the town of Jarablus on Wednesday.
