Born on August 20’1944 in Mumbai to Indira Gandhi and Feroze Gandhi. The Cambridge educated was a former prime minister and a recipient of Bharat Ratna. He was assassinated at Chennai’s Sriperumbudur on May 21, 1991.
He was one of the protagonists of ushering in Technological Revoltion in India.
Pranab Mukherjee, Manmohan Singh also paid tributes to Rajiv Gandhi on his 72nd birth anniversary. He took office after the 1984 assassination of his mother, Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, to become the youngest Indian Prime Minister.
