According to the media report, the commissioner was quoted saying,
“I am told that there are already some plans in place. We will see how much they have been implemented. If we think a modification in traffic scheme or better deployment of personnel is required, we will implement them. And, this will be done with immediate effect so that vehicular movement on the expressway is regulated,”
The 1995 batch IPS officer Khirwar’s posting as Gurgaon police commissioner comes more than a fortnight after heavy rainfall submerged Gurgaon and led to traffic jams that extended miles, leaving thousands of commuters stranded.
An electrical engineering graduate from IIT Delhi, Khirwar said moral boosting of police personnel will also be among the priorities. Besides, he will work on improving basic policing, reducing crime and maintaining law and order.
According to his version, the officer needs some time to figure out the present state of affairs. Then only will he be able to enlist issues that need to be taken up on priority.
Khirwar has also worked for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Delhi Police, and has been the police head of several districts including Hisar, Panchkula, Ambala and Yamunanagar .
The former commissioner, Navdeep Singh Virk had joined Gurgaon police, on November 23, 2014. Virk will take charge as the inspector general of police , Rohtak range.
