Sonia admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital for minor procedure

New Delhi, Aug 18 (PTI) Congress chief Sonia Gandhi hasbeen admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital for a minor treatmentprocedure, two days after she was discharged followingtreatment for fever, dehydration and a shoulder injury. "Mrs Sonia Gandhi has been admitted to Sir Ganga RamHospital for a minor treatment procedure as per previous plan.She is doing well and undergoing physiotherapy andrehabilitation," Dr S P Byotra, Vice Chairman (Board ofManagement) of the hospital said today. In a medical bulletin, the hospital said, she wasadmitted yesterday "as planned at the time of her dischargefrom the hospital" on August 14. The Congress president had visited the hospital yesterdayfor removal of her stitches from the surgery that she hadundergone during her 11-day stay there. "She is likely to stay at the hospital for a couple ofdays," sources said. "At the time of her discharge from the hospital lastweek, doctors had said that she was likely to revisit thehospital for further evaluation of her condition. So, she ishere for that," the hospital source said. Party sources also said she has been admitted again andwill be at the hospital for a couple of days. The 69-year-old leader was admitted to the hospital onAugust 3 after she had fallen ill during a roadshow inVaranasi. Doctors treating her at the hospital, during thetime of discharge, had said she had recovered from her illnessand injury to the left shoulder and was stable. "Mrs Gandhi is likely to visit the hospital for furtherevaluation of her condition in the coming week," D S Rana,Chairman of Board of Management of the hospital, had said theday she was discharged. Gandhi was admitted under the care of Arup Basu, seniorconsultant, Department of Pulmonology and Chest Medicine andhis team. She was operated upon for a shoulder injury by PrateekGupta, senior consultant and his team from Department ofOrthopaedics and Sanjay Desai from Mumbai. Gandhi was shifted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital from ArmyResearch and Referral Hospital, where she was rushed soonafter her arrival from Varanasi around midnight of August 2.PTI KND SPG AAR SKAAR
