Mumbai, Aug 18 (PTI) Maharashtra Youth Congress willorganise a convention ‘Hum Me Hai Rajiv’ here on August 20which will be attended by top leaders. The convention is a part of the nationwide campaign whichbegan on May 21, the 25th death anniversary of the formerPrime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. It will conclude on August 20. Maharashtra Congress chief Ashok Chavan, former ChiefMinister Prithviraj Chavan, Rajasthan Congress chief SachinPilot, national general secretary Gurudas Kamat and YouthCongress national president Amrinder Singh Brar would addressthe event. Youth Congress sources said the convention is aimed atapprising the common people of Rajiv Gandhi’s vision of modernIndia. It will be followed by the national executive meeting ofYouth Congress on August 21 and 22. Vishwajeet Kadam, president of state Youth Congress,said, "Mumbai is also the birthplace of Rajiv Gandhi. As apart of `Hum Me Hai Rajiv’ campaign, we have organised severalprogrammes like seminars, blood donation camps, treeplantations, etc., throughout the state. The aim is tointroduce Rajiv Gandhi’s ideas which were far ahead of timesto the new generation." City Congress leaders said the event is a part of party’sattempt to revive its fortunes in the BMC elections, where itis facing an uphill task against the incumbent Shiv Sena andBJP.
