Goa Forward to announce 1st list of candidates for state polls

by mid-Oct Panaji, Aug 18 (PTI) Goa Forward Party today said thefirst list of its 20 candidates for the state Assembly polls,to he held next year, would be declared by mid-October. "We will decide and announce the list of 20 candidateswho will be contesting on Goa Forward Party ticket during endof September or mid of October. We have already beguncampaigning across the state," party chief Prabhakar Timblosaid here. The candidates for rest of the constituencies would beannounced by the end of November, he said. The party, which was recognised by Election Commission ofIndia this month, has said that their main agenda would be tofocus on development of every Goan. "As Goa approaches the 2017 elections, the top mostpriority of Goa Forward is to sensitise Goans on the threatsto Goa, Goans and Goemkarponn (Goan identity)," Timblo said. He alleged, "Some independent legislators raised theseissues during the recent Assembly session, but the governmentis totally deaf and blind to the interests of Goa." "The manner in which a full debate was not allowed oncritical issues is murder of democracy and betrayal by theAssembly," Timblo alleged, adding, "Goa Forward will take allthese issues to the people in each and every constituency andalso expose the farce in the name of Assembly." About the party’s agenda, he said, "Goa Forward Party iscommitted to provide to Goans its staple food items atsubsidised prices and will work out rational and viableschemes in consultation with stakeholders."
