Youth shot dead in suspected honour killing

Muzaffarnagar, Aug 17 (PTI) In a suspected case of honourkilling, a 20-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by familymembers of the girl he was in relationship with at Vehalnavillage here, police said today. Nazim was shot dead after the girl’s family found the twotogether at the girl’s residence last night, they said. SP (Crime) Pradeep Gupta said a case has been registeredagainst the girl’s father Arvind, uncle Praveen and brothersPradeep and Deepak. He said Praveen and Pradeep were arrested this morning andthe pistol used in the crime was also seized from the them. A manhunt has been launched for absconding Arvind andDeepak while the victim’s body has been sent for postmortem,Gupta said. Tension prevailed in the village following the incident.Security has been stepped up and police personnel have beendeployed to thwart any untoward incident.
