Two get death sentence for rape, double murder

Beed (Maha), Aug 17 (PTI) A Majalgaon sessions court inBeed district of Maharashtra today sentenced two men to deathfor raping and murdering a 14-year-old girl, and killing hermother. Judge R V Morale had held the accused Krishna Ramrao Riddeand Achyut Baba Chunche guilty yesterday, and pronounced thesentence today. On May 28, 2015, Ridde and Chunche entered the house of a54-year-old woman at Choramba village in Dharur tehsil, rapedher 14-year-old daughter, and strangled both of them, saidPublic Prosecutor Ajay Tandale. Police nabbed Ridde and Chunche on June 2, 2015. Tandale examined 13 witnesses during the trial at thefast-track court. Apart from the death sentence, the court also awarded theduo life imprisonment for the offence of rape under IPC, andalso a 10 years’ sentence under the Protection of Childrenfrom Sexual Offences Act. "I am satisfied with the court’s decision which would actas a deterrent," Tandale said. PTI Corr KRKSC
