More than two dozen home buyers of Unitech’s housing More than two dozen home buyers of Unitech’s housingprojects in Noida and Gurgaon had approached the NationalConsumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) after thebuilder had failed to give them possession of the flats as perschedule. The consumer forum had asked the real estate firm torefund the money to the home buyers with interest. The apex court had last month asked the company todeposit an interim penalty of Rs 5 crore with the courtregistry after the firm challenged the order of the consumerforum which had asked the developer to pay Rs 5 crore penaltyto three buyers of its Burgundy project. The court had said that the penalty deposited with thecourt will be awarded to the buyers or returned to Unitech,depending on the outcome of the case. PTI ABA SJK RKSARC
